“If you experience any problems with Zetia side effects, tell a medical professional immediately.” |
Common Zetia side effects are similar to those of other drugs used to lower cholesterol. Zetia side effects come from the statins which work to block the enzyme a liver needs to produce cholesterol.
Zetia is typically prescribed to patients to lower cholesterol by itself, or in conjunction with other statin medications (such as Lipitor or Crestor). Moderate Zetia side effects can include headaches, nausea and fever. However, other side effects of Zetia can be serious.
The official Zetia website has announced that major Zetia side effects include:
- Zetia should not be taken by anyone with active liver disease as it may cause serious health problems.
- Patients using Zetia may experience tiredness, stomach pain, unexplained muscle pain, tenderness and weakness.
In addition to these Zetia side effects, research has shown that patients taking Zetia could have problems with sexual dysfunction, memory loss, personality changes and irritability.
Like with most prescription drugs, Zetia side effects may or may not occur with every patient. If you experience any problems with Zetia side effects, tell a medical professional immediately.
